Adults deserve certificates too

I got a certificate!
Adults don’t get enough certificates. Kids get them for attendance, effort and sometimes just not being annoying. Meanwhile, adults are out there paying bills, going to meetings and remembering to put the bins out… with no paper-based praise.
So when HatoHoneStJohn gave me an actual certificate this week for my time with the PetTherapy programme I felt an unreasonable amount of pride (the kind I haven’t felt since I heroically earned my Blue Peter badge for a deeply moving depiction of the garden). It’s nice to be recognised for something beyond basic survival.
Go volunteer if you have the time. It’s good for other people, mildly good for you, and occasionally comes with stationery.
